CONFIDENCE AND PEACE
God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Psalm 46:1-3 Our country and the world around us is changing very rapidly. Chatter abounds on radio, television, internet blogs, and social networking services concerning current events moving in directions contrary to the world and country we have all grown up in. Buzz words like socialism, one world government, financial meltdown, and

Faith Walk
Interim—a temporary or provisional arrangement.
We as a church family are in an interim period or temporary arrangement. We can find times in the bible where the formation of the early church had times for going apart, for withdrawal, rest, renewal, regrouping and then beginning again. The Christian concept of death and resurrection speaks powerfully to periods in our lives when, individually or collectively, we need to say “good-bye” to the old and “welcome” to the new (in all phases of our life). The interim period is a time of grieving and letting go of what has been and then renewing our faith, beginning to open ourselves to a new future.

Pride, Pride
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. I John 2:15,16

STAYING CURRENT
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Colossians 3:5
For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. Romans 8:13
I was speaking to a young man in our congregation the other day and he asked me if I had read “The Mortification of Sin” by John Owen. I immediately thought mortified, (i.e. “I was mortified”) doesn’t that mean humiliated?

A Call To Praise Him
Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases; he redeems my life from the pit and crowns me with love and compassion.

WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT
The good Lord chose to bring my sisters only child, Reid (24), into His presence May 17th. It was totally unexpected and a shock to everyone who knew him. The sadness brought on by this void in our lives will only be softened by time, the knowledge that God is in control, and that Reid is in the presence the Lord today and forever.

LITMUS TEST
And this is the testimony; God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. I John 5:11-13 These verse’s are assuring us of our position in Jesus Christ concerning our salvation. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 These verse’s tell us that once we are saved, absolutely nothing can take that position away from us.

Child Like Faith
I was reminded the other day of how Jesus used a child as an example of how we are to be, to enter the kingdom of heaven. At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. Matthew 18:1-5

Who Are We Kidding?
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. II Corinthians 10:4-5

UNCERTIAN TIMES
My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power. I Corinthians 2:4-5
Wow! The content of this passage and what came before it and after it really hit home for me. If you are
