I’m Confused…..

I’m Confused…..
Many have asked me to describe again the ministry I am involved in. This is such a unique set up that it has been difficult at times to get it down on paper and truly describe my little corner of the world. But I am praying for God to give light to my words as I write.
For over the last 20 plus years Sudan has been decimated by war and disease. But there has been a light in this little corner of the world. In 2001 Open Door ministries had a heart for the persecuted church in Sudan. They began to pray and propose the opening of a bible college that would train local Sudanese pastors to become strong church leaders in their villages throughout Southern Sudan. Emmanuel Christian Training Centre was formed with its goal to train and equip local men to serve the Lord in planting churches throughout Southern Sudan to reach people with the Gospel. The ministry has grown quite a bit in the last eight years. Currently we have strong local staff made up of Sudanese men and women whose heart is for this ministry. Our staff does everything from teaching, administration, financial work, building, keeping of the grounds, and more. We even have a program where the pastor’s wives are being trained to come along side their husbands and work with them as churches are being planted.
So where do I fit in? Well, because of the turmoil in this country many of our staff had previously moved their families to Kenya or Uganda to keep their family safe from the war. So the last several years they have been traveling between countries to do their job and provide for their families. It has been the heart of the training center to keep families together. One large need in order to accomplish this was to provide a school for the children of our staff. That is where I have stepped in. Emmanuel Christian Academy is being started for the staff children. When the school is started in January we will have a combination of Sudanese, Kenyan, and South African children with a majority of them being Sudanese. These families will have to relocated and move their families to the compound here in Goli, Sudan. There is going to be a lot of change for everyone next year. Please pray for these families and children as they move back to Sudan.
This first year Emmanuel Christian Training Center will consist of about 30 children. We will have four double classes (two levels in each class) with four teachers three being African and then me. I will be helping with teaching, administration, and the general running of the school. Pray for me as I train the locals to run this school. Continue to pray as there are a lot of details to figure out in the running of this school. We want this school to be a light in the darkness. We will continue to expand as God provides the resources.
