My Only Hope Is In The Lord
It is amazing to me how easy it is to fall back into hopelessness during a trial the Lord is allowing in my life. One week I can be on top of the world and the next day I can be downright depressed. Trials, when compared to each other can look like one would be more severe than the other. However to the person experiencing the lesser trouble in comparison, the suffering can be just as real and severe as the other.
My thoughts during a “down moment” brought me to the song My Hope Is In The Lord and I realized (again) that I was putting my hope in the future, on getting a job.
What a great hymn!
My hope is in the Lord
Who gave Himself for me
And paid the price
Of all my sin at Calvary.
My Lord is a God of hope. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
I was bought with a price. You were bought at a price I Cor 7:23a
For me He died;
For me He lives,
And everlasting life
And light He freely gives.
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. II Cor. 5:21
No merit of my own
His anger to suppress
My only hope is found
In Jesus’ righteousness.
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 2:1-5
And now for me He stands
Before the Father’s throne
He shows His wounded hands
And names me as His own.
Christ Jesus is He who died, more than that, who was raised to life – is at the right hand of God, and is also interceding for us. Romans 8:34
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Romans 8:15-17
His grace has planned it all
Tis mine but to believe
And recognize His work of love
And Christ receive.
Thank you Lord, I needed that reminder. You are in control, you are all I need.
