Parade…..
Parade…..
Early evenings present an opportunity to break away from the compound and enjoy the scenery of the village area. People meandering out on the main road to enjoy a stroll and the company of others. But for this Kweja (white person) it is a time of exercise and reflection on the day’s events. As I journey down the red dirtied road I begin to see movement in the grasses a head. Before I know it little chocolate faces peep out whispering to each other. And in a rush of excitement they fly out of the grass to eagerly greet the Kweja. Greetings are exchanged, handshakes are given, and smiles are shared. The procedure continues as I make my way down the road. I feel as though I have just been in some sort of surreal parade. My heart is singing with joy and a burden for the lives of these precious children. There they are each and every day waiting for a handshake and a smile. And each and every day they are consistent never wavering on greeting me. When was the last time I waited anxious for someone or something? Should we be waiting anxiously for the Savior each and every day? Waiting to embrace HIM with a warm smile and a hug. “Let us be alert and self controlled …. (for we do not know the time or the hour).” 1 Thessalonians 5:6
